Pacific starts to mainstream climate and disaster planning

From , 3:02 pm on 8 May 2019

Mainstreaming climate change and disaster risk management into everyday planning is the aim of a series of meetings organised as part of the Framework for Resilient Development in the Pacific, or FRDP.

The inaugural Pacific Resilience Meeting was held Fiji last week.

The Suva meeting brought together participants from around the region to workshop ideas and begin addressing the three strategic goals of the FRDP.

They include: reducing exposure to climate change and disasters; low carbon development, and; improving disaster response and reconstruction.

Georgina Kekea from Solomon Islands' Barava FM was in Fiji for the meeting and spoke with Dominic Godfrey.
