Fiji's prime minister Frank Bainimarama has apologised to three New Zealand journalists detained overnight in the capital Suva.

Newsroom's co-editor Mark Jennings, investigative journalist Melanie Reid and cameraman Hayden Aull were released without charge this morning after being held for 13 hours.

They had been accused of trespass as they tried to interview a controversial Chinese resort developer accused of environmental damage on a tourist island near Nadi.

Straight after his release Mark Jennings spoke to reporter Lice Movono.
