Linda Simiki Folaumoetu'i has been appointed Tonga's new attorney general.
Ms Folaumoetu'i, who has previously been solicitor general, and the chief executive in the office of the ombudsman, takes over from 'Aminiasi Kefu, who has been acting in the role for some time.
Jenny Meyer spoke to Mr Kefu about Ms Foloumoetu's appointment but began by asking about the challenges in the AG role, particularly the impact of Tonga's move toward greater democracy since 2010.
