DEREK WINDESSY: This is information we got yesterday, yesterday evening. Eighty one dead, 73 missing, and then serious injured 84 people, 75 injured not hard injured but they didn't go to the hospital, they still injured.
JENNY MEYER: Alright and how many people have been evacuated now?
DW: 5,700 evacuated in some posts.
JM: And I understand that they've declared a two week emergency declaration?
DW: Yes, declaration from the government, local government, two weeks emergency response.
JM: Ok and the (President) Joko Widodo has asked for planting more trees, what can you say about that?
DW: Yes. I didn't get information clearly yet but according to the information we've got in the field probably tomorrow Joko Widodo will visit the area.
JM: But he has apparently announced he wants more trees planted to try and prevent the flooding. Do know about that?
DW: Sorry for didn't get information about what the national government plans to do. But the local government, we have already coordinated with them. The local government in Sentani and Jayapura, we do our coordination with them.
JM: That's alright. So what is the focus of the local government now?
DW: The local government focus is still doing evacuating for people, from the small posts to the main posts. Because the raining is still until now. So the local government with the team, disaster team, is doing evacuating for the people. The disaster teams are still looking for the missing people in lake area, in Sentani Lake area. Supply the food for the people in the posts and supply the water.
JM: The water spilled out of Lake Sentani, the lake overflowed to the villages, is that right?
DW: Yeah you're right. So they evacuate people to the safety place. Like in the main posts, yeah.
JM: This is a big disaster isn't it?
DW: Yes, yes really, really big. It's a really big disaster for the people here. I think people care about the climate here because it is still raining, raining and raining again. Last night still raining and some rivers throw up and flood through in the villages. So it's hard almost three days or four days people cannot sleep well. And then they scare. So they need to move to the safety place now I think. Another thing I see when yesterday I was there, people from outside Sentani from Jayapura, they become care about the situation. And some of them supply the food and water to the victims in that area, yeah.
