Vanuatu to establish a bi-lingual university

From , 5:02 am on 14 March 2019

The Vanuatu government is close to finalising a legal framework to establish a national university.

The Education Minister Jean-Pierre Nirua says legislation is set to go to parliament later this year.

Vanuatu already hosts key parts of the University of the South Pacific, including the law school.

But Mr Nirua says the new bi-lingual university will complement and not compete with the USP.

He told Don Wiseman that the National University will be closely linked with the Francophonie University Associaiton or AUF - which began tertiary level classes in Vanuatu several years ago.
