Vanuatu's president appears to be relenting to pressure and looks set to pardon 14 former MPs who were convicted and jailed for corruption in 2016.

President Tallis Obed Moses has said he plans to pardon the men, who were convicted as part of a bribery scheme to topple the government in 2015.

The news director of the Vanuatu Daily Post, Dan McGarry, says the decision will be disappointing to many, but doesn't come as too much of a surprise.

He told Jamie Tahana that Mr Moses has been under intense pressure from supporters of the former MPs.
