Cook Islands on dengue alert

From , 4:03 pm on 6 March 2019

The Cook Islands is on the alert for dengue fever after the confirmation of seven cases in February.

Last week the Health Ministry declared a dengue outbreak and a senior health official says that's partly due to people carrying the non-contagious disease into the country.

The country's Secretary for Health Josephine Aumea-Herman told Christine Rovoi the government will continue to monitor and raise awareness about dengue as well as spray public areas such as schools.
