Review of Fiji military laws to resolve human rights "issues"

From , 5:04 am on 26 February 2019

A lawyer with the New Zealand Defence Force says outdated laws governing Fiji's military forces have created human rights "issues" for the country.

Last week, Fiji launched a review of the legislation, which New Zealand is assisting with.

Commander Chris Griggs says the review, which will take at least three years to complete, will be very significant for Fiji.

Commander Griggs, who also worked on a review of New Zealand's military justice system, explained to Mackenzie Smith why the review is needed.
