Samoan NZ play takes its Pacific themes to Australia's Fringe

Talofa Papa is an award winning one man show centering around an endearing and wily grandfather character who's missing his New Zealand born aiga or extended family around him in the family home.

Papa is based on the Samoan father of the show's creator Kasiano Mita who grew up in Wellington and who also plays the title role.

Talofa Papa conveys the warmth of family life through a Pacific lens but the themes are universal.

And now Creative New Zealand has sponsored the show to tour the Perth and Adelaide Fringe Festivals and a season in Auckland, following sell-out seasons in Wellington.

Kasi Mita caught up with Dominic Godfrey before he left for Australia.
