MSF report details severe mental health situation on Nauru

A humanitarian organisation has likened the mental health situation on Nauru to that of victims of torture.

Médecins Sans Frontières has released its findings after almost a year treating asylum seekers and refugees on the island.

The charity has called for an immediate end to Australia's offshore detention policy and evacuation of those forced into indefinite detention on Nauru..

Psychiatrist Beth O'Connor spent 11 months there and told Sally Round MSF found a far more severe situation on Nauru than in many global emergencies it deals with.
