Schooling up on rules to improve maritime safety

Maritime representatives from seven Pacific Island countries are in New Zealand to learn more about new regulations to improve safety at sea.

Participants from the Cook Islands, Kiribati, Niue, Samoa, Tokelau, Tonga and Tuvalu as well as New Zealand are in Wellington this week to prepare their countries for auditing by the International Maritime Organisation.

Maritime NZ's Deputy Director for Safety and Response, Nigel Clifford, told Jenny Meyer about the training and efforts to improve ocean safety in the Pacific.
