Frank Bainimarama's FijiFirst party is facing a stronger and more experienced opposition as it prepares for another four years in power.
That's according to an academic at the University of the South Pacific Vijay Naidu.
The FijiFirst party lost five seats to the opposition.
Professor Naidu told Sally Round the swing could affect the atmosphere in parliament.
