Civil society is looking at China as the best bet for reducing illegal logging in Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands.

The two Melanesian countries are main suppliers of China's timber imports, large quantities of which come from illegal logging.

A policy advisor with the environmental and anti-corruption NGO Global Witness, Lela Stanley, told Johnny Blades this is why China is being urged to introduce regulation on illegal wood imports.
