Bougainville NGO Tulele Peisa is leading a campaign to stop the destruction of mangroves in the region.

Tulele Peisa has been working with the people of the low lying Carterets and has learnt a thing or two about what happens when mangroves are removed.

Its leader Ursula Rakova says Bougainville has the second largest quantity of mangroves in Papua New Guinea.

She told Don Wiseman the NGO is working with the ABG's Department of Primary Industry to develop a policy to control mangrove destruction.
