A refugee advocate says the Australian government may stop opposing legal applications for the transfer of sick refugee children from Nauru.

The government is reported to have spent about half a million Australian dollars fighting the applications this year.

About 70 children and their families have been transfered to Australia since December under court orders or the threat of legal action, with only five families moved unopposed.

The advocate Jana Favero from the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre says its been suggested the Australian Border Force or ABF will end its opposition.
