Delays in Samoa deaths inquiry

From , 3:04 pm on 12 September 2018

The inquiry into the deaths of two babies in Samoa has been suspended until further information is available from post mortem results.

The one year olds died soon after receiving vaccinations for measles mumps and rubella in July.

The inquiry opened this week and among submissions was a call from the Samoa Nurses' Association to have baby immunisations begin again.

Our correspondent in Apia Autagavaia Tipi Autagavai has been at the inquiry and he told Jenny Meyer progress has been slow.
