An irreverent take on the lives of Pasifika youth has seen a South Auckland playwright become the inaugural Emerging Pasifika Writer.
South Auckland's Leki Jackson-Bourke received the Victoria University accolade for works including Pring It On and Inky Pinky Ponky and will move to Wellington next year to take up his residence.
The Niuean-Samoan-Tongan writer will receive a US$10,000 stipend to research and write his new play For the Likes.
Leki Jackson-Bourke told Dominic Godfrey he found out about the residency a couple of weeks ago and has been bursting to talk about it.
