Southern Highlanders resilient after quake disaster

The Bishop of Mendi says Southern Highlanders are showing great resilience after February's major earthquake in Papua New Guinea's Highlands.

Donald Lippert is the head of the Catholic church in Southern Highlands province, which is in the region worst affected by the magnitude 7.5 quake in neighbouring Hela province.

Bishop Lippert says international partners such as the UN Children's agency UNICEF have been helping to meet primary needs after the disaster wrought destruction on infrastructure for basic services such as education and health.

He spoke to Johnny Blades who asked if many communities remained displaced after the disaster.
