Barbs fly in Fiji between Bainimarama and opposition

From , 3:02 pm on 28 June 2018

Fiji's prime minister Frank Bainimarama has made a stinging attack on the opposition accusing parties of peddling lies and sowing division between different ethnic groups and religions.

He told a provincial council meeting on Wednesday he had evidence certain figures had been sowing division between Hindus and Muslims within the Indo-Fijian community by claiming that Muslims through the Attorney-General are taking over Fiji.

The leader of  the National Federation Party Biman Prasad has hit back saying the prime minister is also lying in a desperate attempt to discredit his party.

Mr Prasad spoke to Sally Round.
