Safe countries key for refugees with mental trauma

A psychologist who worked on Nauru and Papua New Guinea's Manus Island says the best treatment for the mental trauma refugees there are suffering is to resettle them in a safe country.

Paul Stevenson counseled workers in Australian offshore detention but also trained guards, worked with interpreters and was involved in strategic planning.

He spoke to Ben Robinson Drawbridge about children in detention and the reported reduction in trauma counseling.
