From , 3:01 pm on 7 June 2018

Samoa's School of Nursing has launched a postgraduate programme to boost the number of nurses with higher qualifications.

The National University of Samoa and Wellington's Victoria University are partnering to provide the programme which they hope will allow students to keep working in their own communities, support their families and contribute to the development of nursing in Samoa.

The dean of the Faculty of Health at Victoria University, Professor Gregor Coster, told Sara Vui-Talitu it is an exciting time to help develop Samoa's health research and staff.

Practice Nurse Litia Gibson says reducing rates of rheumatic fever is often opportunistic work involving testing entire families when just one member is ill.
