NZ grower says industry can no longer survive without RSE

A New Zealand fruit grower says his industry can no longer survive without the seasonal employment scheme that brings over Pacific labourers.

John Van Vliet grows and exports apples and pears from the Wairarapa region near Wellington.

During picking time he has 108 workers and half of them are Solomon Islanders employed through the Recognised Seasonal Employment scheme.

Mr Van Vliet told Koroi Hawkins he has found his RSE workers have a great work ethic.
