Disaster prompts Vanuatu women to seek bigger role

A woman from Tanna in Vanuatu hopes her concept for empowering women is embraced across Vanuatu and around the region.

Mary Jack helped launch the Women I Tok Tok Tugeta forum after the devastation wrought by Cyclone Pam in 2015.

The aim was to give women more say at all levels and, with help from the NGO ActionAid, it is now being embraced by women beyond Tanna.

Mary Jack told Don Wiseman Vanuatu women's efforts to step up to leadership roles are being stymied my men.
