TIIRA KAIO TAULA - It is really really really exciting. I know this will go down in the history of the school. It's just the first time they've ever competed and fortunately we won the prize. The project proposal was to build a bio-digester at the school and also to have a stand alone solar system and that will help with the biogas it will help reduce the uses of LPG gases for the school since it is situated in another different island from the capital island. The school mostly relies on the boat to bring over LPG gases and also since we're trying to reduce carbon emission by 2025. The biogas will help the school with their cooking, so there's no need to buy anymore of those LPG gases. The solar stand alone system will drive a pumper to water the gardens and also help with lighting of the piggery.
SELA JANE HOPGOOD - This competition, the Zayed Future Energy it encourages the children to embrace sustainability. Is this something just Tuvalu as a nation is working towards?
TKT - Yeah, it's a goal for the government of Tuvalu by 2025 will be 100% renewable energy country. We won't be using anymore fuels, no LPG gases nor any other gases of other substances that contribute to carbon emission.

TKT - Yeah it will happen in 2025, so far we've put up solar systems within the whole nine islands of Tuvalu and some of the small islands where people are occupying currently at the moment here within the capital island. There's solar all over the place. We're a small island nation and we're in the forefront of climate change and that's why before we help other people we should help ourselves first.
SJH - So what will 2018 look like for the school? What are they going to, for you and for the school will be working towards?
TKT - We will be working towards utilizing the prize properly in the proper way that the proposal went to actually build the bio-digester in the school and make it work because by the same time next year the school will also be invited back to Abu Dhabi for them to present on how the project has taken effect into the school.
