Vanuatu minister says cabinet reshuffle creates more 'solid' government

Vanuatu's new Foreign Minister says a more fair distribution of cabinet portfolios has strengthened the Charlot Salwai-led government.

Prime Minister Salwai yesterday defeated a parliamentary motion of no-confidence lodged against him by the oppostion, winning the vote 37 to 13.

Ahead of the vote, he made a last minute cabinet reshuffle in which the Graon mo Jastis Pati and its leader Ralph Regenvanu were big winners.

Mr Regenvanu says his was one of the parties previously under-served in ministerial positions relative to their number of MPs.
