A 6.8 magnitude earthquake felt in Samoa on Saturday triggered memories of the devastating 2009 tsunami.

The quake hit about 200km southwest of Apia late on Saturday night.

RNZ International's correspondent in Samoa Autagavaia Tipi Autagavaia told Sela Jane Hopgood it was one of the longest tremors felt in the country for some time.
