A group of locals on Papua New Guinea's Manus Island is planning a protest in support of men detained there by Australia.
For four years, hundreds of men have been held on the island without trial for travelling to Australia by sea to seek asylum.
The detention centre is due to close next week, but its 600 residents are refusing to move to the island's Lorengau town.
Locals opposed to the men's detention have formed a group called the Manus Alliance against Human Rights Abuse.
Its deputy chair, Ben Wamoi, says some Manusians fear the detainees and problems they could bring, but the alliance wants to change their perspective.
