PNG police wives suffering in silence

From , 4:03 pm on 25 January 2017

The Family Sexual Violence Action Committee in Papua New Guinea says it's common for the wives of police officers to be physically abused by their husbands.

The comment follows the death of Priscilla Wonga who died in Port Moresby this month after a brutal beating from her policeman husband.

Ms Wonga's husband is still at large and the committee's national programme co-ordinator, Ume Wainetti, says it's also common for the police to shield their colleagues from arrest.
