Fiji media regulator urged to act without favour

From , 4:03 pm on 26 October 2016

The national broadcaster in Fiji has been reported to the police after widespread public criticism of what is being described as racist and inflammatory content on one of its TV shows.

The host of the FBC TV's Wasea Bhasha language programme Nemani Bainivalu was widely criticised for perceived negative racial stereotyping of indigenous Fijians.

While Mr Bainivalu has apologised profusely, the media regulator has been silent and the opposition says the CEO of the FBC should resign.
