New Zealand is holding its first-ever Pasifika focused event in its annual Small Business Roadshow.
The Taking Care of Business roadshow brings members of the private sector and government agencies together to improve small businesses.
Minister for Pacific Peoples Aupito William Sio said the Pasifika event in Auckland on Thursday would encourage entrepeneurs to step up.
Only 4.7 percent of Pacific people described themselves as self-employed and he would like to see a bigger number, Aupito said.
"New Zealand's economy is set to change in the coming years which will present opportunities and challenges for Pasifika businesses large and small," he said.
