Sport: Manu Samoa strike averted

12:40 pm on 13 November 2014

The International Rugby Board says it fully expects Samoa to meet its obligations and play next month's test against England.

Manu Samoa players had written to the IRB, threatening to strike, claiming the Samoa Rugby Union lacked financial transparency and suffered from general mismanagement.

However the IRB says detailed discussions are taking place and the player concerns are being investigated.

The board says because of this, the players have withdrawn their threat.

The International Rugby Player's Association is involved in finding a lasting resolution as well.
