Samoa's Associate Minister to the Prime Minister's Office and Cabinet, Peseta Vaifou Tevaga, has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
He appeared in court on Tuesday on a number of other driving offences, including careless driving.
Peseta was driving a government vehicle which was in an accident with a private vehicle.
He entered a not guilty plea and is to stand trial in February next year.
Another charge of being an unlicensed driver was withdrawn.
