The president of the victorious Lupe Ole Soaga Football club has paid tribute to his players and supporters from the village of Magiagi after they won their way through to the next round of the OFC Champions League.

The Samoans won the preliminary tournament in Apia over the weekend to advance for the first time.

Taimelelagi Fiti Aimaasu says the team had a lot of support on and off the field and now all are celebrating.

"Obviously everyone was ecstatic. A combination of a long series of hard trainings and commitment from everyone who was involved, not just the management but the players and all the supporters as well from the village. We were quite stoked with coming out with the win obviously, especially winning all three games."

Lupe defeated FC Samoan Korean Baptist Church, Lotoha'apai United and Puaikura over the week.
