American Samoa's government is at odds with Congressman Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin on the set up of the proposed National Guard unit.
According to the Governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga, the congressman is taking the position that the national guard being planned for American Samoa should be a part of the Hawaii National Guard.
However Lolo and Lt. Governor Lemanu believe the national guard should be under the purview of the governor of American Samoa.
During a video conference call from Honolulu, the governor explained to the cabinet that putting the national guard under the Governor of Hawaii defeats the purpose of why such a unit is needed in the territory.
