7:21 am on 7 January 2014

In Samoa, the defense coach for the Manu Samoa rugby team, Muliagatele Brian Lima, has stepped down from all his rugby engagements while awaiting his first court appearance on assault charges next week.

A former Manu Samoa player, Potu Leavasa, is taking over his coach position in the Samoa A rugby team but an assistant coach has been advertised.

Lima is facing charges over an alleged assault against his divorced wife and former president of the Chamber of Commerce, Lemalu Sina Retzlaff.

The chairman of Samoa's rugby union and Prime Minister, Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi, has told a local newspaper the union has accepted the decision by Lima which will allow time for him to resolve his family problems.
