Samoa has been named as the host of next year's 11th Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission meeting.

The annual event on tuna management has been held in Cairns, Australia this week.

The bid to become host was won by Samoa following an agreement by Indonesia to stand down and host the event in 2015.

It will be the second time Samoa has hosted the week-long discussions, after also holding the event there in 2006.

In addition, Samoa will be hosting about 2,000 guests at the global United Nations Conference on Small Islands Developing States next September.
