Sport: O-League preliminary tournament set for tight finish

11:18 am on 5 May 2012

The battle to grab a possible spot in the Ocean Football Confederation's O-League will be decided in today's final round of action at the League's preliminary tournament in Tonga.

It's an intriguing tussle to see who will take on New Caledonia's Mont Dore in a one match play off to decide who will be promoted to next year's O league competition.

Tupapa Maraerenga from the Cook Islands who stunned Kiwi from Samoa 2-1 on Thursday, have the edge as they're expected to defeat Pago Youth by a healthy margin

But host Lotoha'apai United are still in the frame and if they can defeat Kiwi as well the Tongans would draw level with Tupapa on points.

If that eventuates the group winner would be decided by goal difference.
