Guam's only professional tennis tournament begins on Monday with a plethora of nationalities vying for much needed rankings points.
South Korea's Daniel Yoo is the top seed with a world ranking of 367 while reigning Pacific Games champion, Michael Leong of Solomon Islands, is one of the leading Pacific hopes.
The tournament director for the US ten thousand dollar Guam Futures event, Torgun Smith, says there's been no shortage of entries from around the globe.
"We have players from Korea, Australia, Japan, USA, Solomon Islands, Taipei, Germany, India. Actually, we have Belarus also"
Torgun Smith says history has shown that the Guam Futures event can be a springboard for future success.
Last year we had Tatsuma Ito. He was the winner last year and he was our number one seed last year and he's at the French Open this week because he's done so well after last years futures. He's up to 114 in the world now so we look forward to launching someone else this year.
