Two Samoan policewomen have been suspended after being charged with beating a woman who was in custody at the Lalomanu police post.

The charges were laid after an internal investigation.

The sergeant and constable are charged with one count each of actual bodily harm.

The alleged victim, Faasalafa Faafetai Sione, was admitted at the Tupua Tamasese Meaole national hospital as a result of injuries to her nose.

Sione has since been sentenced to life in prison after she and her husband admitted the killing of their six-year old daughter six years ago at Ti'aveatai village in Aleipata.
