French Polynesia's suspended FIFA executive committee member Reynald Temarii says he has no doubt he will be cleared of corruption charges and allowed to vote for the 2018 and 2022 World Cup hosts.

Mr Temarii has told The Associated Press that he is confident FIFA's ethics committee will lift his suspension next week after he shows that Britain's Sunday Times newspaper fabricated false evidence against him.

He says the video released by the Sunday Times grossly manipulated the full 98 minutes of footage now available to the ethics committee to suggest he would sell his votes to fund a soccer academy in New Zealand.

Last month, his lawyer said by editing various phrases, anyone could say anything to anybody.

Mr Temarii says this is why he has instigated legal action to sue the Sunday Times for defamation.
