A magnitude 6 earthquake struck Vanuatu this morning but seismologists report there was no tsunami warning or reports of casualties or damage.

The United States Geological Survey says the earthquake, which was measured around 18 kilometres deep, was centred 155 kilometres from Port Vila.

A weather forecaster at Vanuatu's meteorological office says the tremor was not felt in Port Vila and there had been no reports of damage or injuries.
