The Solomon Islands Parliamentary opposition says the ruling Government doesn't have a comprehensive policy on re-arming the Police force.
Opposition police shadow Minister William Haomae says if it does, it is not included in the policy translation and implementation document just released by the Prime Minister's office.
He says as disarmament and destruction of arms and ammunition are part and parcel of the facilitation act governing the engagement of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands, only Parliament can decide whether or not to re-arm the Police force.
Mr Haomae joins other critics of the government's intention to re-arm the police to provide security for the prime minister and other dignitaries.
RAMSI has withdrawn its protection unit which had provided security to the prime minister following his request to do so.
