Committal hearing begins in Norfolk murder case

1:33 pm on 7 August 2006

A committal hearing gets underway today for the New Zealand man accused of murdering Janelle Patton on Norfolk Island four years ago.

Ms Patton's death was the first murder recorded on the island in 150 years.

Glenn McNeill, who is from Nelson, was arrested in February after what police described as a DNA breakthrough in the case.

The allegations against him will be detailed over the next five days with a magistrate to determine whether there is sufficient evidence for him to stand trial.
