The All Black winger Joe Rococoko is in no doubt that the Test against Ireland in Hamilton this Saturday will also be a chance for players to put their hands up for selection to the World Cup next year.
The Irish have never beaten the All Blacks, but a successful campaign in the northern hemisphere this season could change that.
Meanwhile, Rocokoco says he's very proud to be selected for the first Test but knows there's more to play for.
"If you get a chance like this to play for the AB's you always take it so, I'm very happy to be in these shoes and to be playing against the Irish team, it's a trial game for everyone not just a normal game, it's a game for our future as well, so you've got to look at that as well."
Meanwhile, Keven Mealamu has put last year's tackle on Brian O'Driscoll behind him.
Mealamu and former All Black Tana Umaga escaped punishment after their tackle on O'Driscoll during the British and Irish Lions tour last year put the Irish captain on the sideline for a few months.
But Mealamu says while he's put the incident behind him, but the rugby fans may still remember.
