The village of Matautu in Samoa has banned seven men because of their involvement in the burning of a judge's home.

The banned men include several deacons of the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa.

The fire last Friday night completely destroyed the home of Land and Titles Court judge Misa Iuli Pita Anae.

It occurred after a court ruling allowed the judge and his family to return to Matautu after they had been banned.

Two men from the village has been charged with arson in connection with the fire.
