The Dame Malvina Major Foundation is celebrating its 30th birthday.
Since 1991, the Foundation has been responsible for helping the careers of countless New Zealand opera singers, and also young artists in other fields: conductors, accompanists, cellists, organists and even dancers.
Upbeat caught up last week with Dame Malvina and Wade Kernot – New Zealand bass singer and lecturer in voice at the New Zealand School of Music – who is a past recipient of a Foundation grant and is now on the Wellington Committee.
