Dave Flynn is one of those musicians who works effortlessly across musical boundaries, whether it be classical, rock, contemporary or traditional Irish music.

He founded the Irish Memory Orchestra in 2012. The ensemble performs without reading from a score, making it easier for musicians and instruments not usually found in orchestral music to take part.

Upbeat caught up with Dave recently to talk about breaking down barriers to music, and about his new album Irish Minimalism.
