Stage director Eleanor Bishop has been described as "one of New Zealand's most daring, intellectual, and political directors".

Her work often includes weaving classical material with documentary forms such as found text and filmed interviews, and often features video and projection.

Eleanor is Assistant Director for NZ Opera's much anticipated production of Mozart's 'The Marriage of Figaro' which opens in Auckland on 8 June, followed by performances in Wellington and Christchurch.

She spoke with Upbeat about being part of the production's creative team, and what the position of Assistant Director entailed.
