UNESCO’s World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development might not be a very catchy title, but it’s a catchy idea. On 21 May, RNZ Concert joins more than 40 radio stations worldwide to celebrate the dialogue between cultures. You will hear special programming from all the continents of the world on RNZ Concert radio today.

At Upbeat, we want to shine the spotlight on one of our wonderful colleagues, Shahram Aryan was born in Iran, and came to New Zealand as a refugee.

Western classical music makes up the bulk of Shahram’s 'day job' as a music scheduler. Outside of work his band plays traditional and contemporary music with Persian, Greek, South American and New Zealand influences.
