The Wellington Youth Orchestra's first concert of the year will be in Lower Hutt this Saturday 15 May.
The programme's called 'Transatlantic' and features works by Britten, Gershwin, Vaughan Williams and Barber.
The orchestra's concertmaster is Lucas Baker, and he's also going to be the soloist in Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto.
Lucas comes from a very musical family, and Wellingtonians may well remember some of the Bakers often busking on Lambton Quay.
David Morriss caught up with Lucas recently, and asked if there was ever any real possibility that he wouldn't play an instrument.
